You are cordially invited to bid on exceptional works by young artists in our current Talent Auction. We are presenting over 100 works, diverse in terms of subject, technique, and message. When familiarizing yourself with the auction offerings, it is worth paying particular attention to which works speak to you aesthetically and emotionally. We also encourage you to read the biographical notes of the artists in order to get to know better the creator of the work of interest, as well as to discover the investment potential of your purchase. The Talent auction catalogue is extensive and full of interesting works addressing a variety of themes and artistic trends. In line with this key, we present a selection of works from the catalogue below.

Figuration, nude, and portrait—figure on canvas

Images of figures run through many of Talent's auction items. The paintings show people in specific situations and spaces, leaving ample room for the viewer to interpret the message. In the catalogue, you will find non-obvious figurative representations, such as Hubert Suder's painting 'Backwards Figure' (lot 32.) or Katarzyna Rząsa's 'Untitled' (lot 27.). For fans of melancholic art, we recommend paying attention to Monika Noga's painting 'Obscurity' (lot 6.), showing a smoking woman in subdued colours, as well as Dawid Wincenciak's work 'Once I wanted to be a father' (lot 30.), which opens the way to broad interpretation and attracts attention with its interesting physiognomy of figures. In turn, Krzysztof Bucior's work 'Brothers' (lot 7.) together with Agnieszka Brzezińska's painting 'Koniarki' (lot 23.) correspond with each other with similar composition and subject. Collectors who appreciate art with themes related to the broader femininity will certainly appreciate Krystina Vilchynska's 'Garden Party' (lot 3.), Maria Pelc's 'Prayer' (lot 11.) or Luiza Augustyn's 'U Never Call Me' (lot 17.). The auction also offers several nudes—a female and realistic one by Tymoteusz Przygrodzki (lot 9.), a male and abstract one by Sławomir Jaczyński 'The Saint' (lot 14.) or a painting depicting one of the most famous nudes—the Venus de Milo—in a completely new convention and setting by Agata Tkaczyk 'My Venus' (lot 62.). In addition to figurative works and nudes, we propose portraits, primarily of women. In the art of portraiture, we may be impressed by the realism of the captured figure or by the unconventional way in which the bust is presented. Weronika Bielicka's painting 'Face Your Colours' (lot 20.) is an example of an expressive portrait characterized by particular colours applied to a woman's face in an abstract way. In comparison, the portrait by Joanna Buszko 'Mary' (lot 10.), in which a red-haired girl on a blue background proudly looks forward, seems much more realistic and pompous.

Abstraction—psychedelia, minimalism, and colour dynamics

Among the more than one hundred works put up for auction, abstraction definitely dominates. The artists approach the style in a variety of ways. Some focus on vivid colours, strong contours and imaginative details, in effect creating psychedelic representations. Works of this type include Ida Pozarzycka's 'Rhythm of Shadows' (lot 13.), Luiza Augustyn's 'I don't see that' (lot 16.) or Justyna Krzemianowska's 'They' (lot 25.). Other painters prefer a minimalist form of expression. Abstractions of a less elaborate nature perfectly complement the interior decoration and attract the eye with their simplicity. From optical illusions, such as “Illusion” (lot 80.) or “Cubes” (lot 81.) by S.A.B. Wisniewski, to bright and delicate canvases, such as Anna Wysocka's “On trial” (lot 86.) or Beata Bugaj-Tomaszewska's "Sands 3" (lot 100.) and "Sands 8" (lot 99.), to the pure representation of colour in Fran Wasi's works "X13" (lot 83.) or Anna Płaczek's "My Heavens" (lot 22.) — that is, the entire spectrum of minimalist abstraction possibilities. The works, which do not add any specific or visible message to their unique aesthetic, are an excellent choice for professional interiors. It's easy to enliven yet thematically neutralize your space with an expressive abstraction. If this is what you are looking for, look out for Justyna Mazur's painting 'Magic Flower' (lot 92.), Olga Michaluk's 'Composition No. 2' (lot 89.), Milena Kopczyńska's "Scoria no. 2' (lot 90.), Justyna Rudzinska 'Table 324' (lot 96.) or Tatiana Filipowicz 'Winter Windows' (lot 76.). For more information about the abstract works in the Talent auction, see the article 'In the spectrum of forms and textures—bringing abstraction into the interior'.

Landscape—a window onto a rural or urban view

For clients interested in rural themes or looking for a painting related to nature, we offer several attractive landscapes. You will encounter mountainous landscapes in the works of Justyna Kotula 'Somewhere There' (lot 57.), Marcin Baczak 'Beginning of the Season' (lot 59.) and Maria Suchanik 'AI 21' (lot 60.). If you are dreaming of a forest accent in your room, look out for another painting by Justyna Kotula 'In the Forest' (lot 58.), as well as 'Autumn' by Katarzyna Cibora (lot 53.) or Joanna Śmielowska-Jaremin's tondo 'Las (Przenikanie)' (lot 56.). In addition to landscapes of a more rustic nature, you will also find vedutas, i.e. views of urban life. The dark and dynamic landscape by Dawid Wincenciak 'Neighbours' (lot 31.) evokes urban chaos on a gloomy day. There was also no shortage of landscapes representing specific places: "Winter in Ukraine" (lot 33.) by Bartłomiej Piszczek transports us to a frosty, disturbing evening, and Joanna Abra's painting "Stairs at Gdanski Bridge” (lot 74.) depicts a specific place from the capital's skyline in a realistic and precise manner.

Animalism—unusual depictions of animals

There is no shortage of paintings illustrating animals in the February Talent Auction catalogue. From the smallest insects to large mammals, you will find representations of a variety of creatures on offer. Cat lovers should look out for Zofia Zapolska's Summer (lot 50), which shows two cats looking at each other in a minimalist yet expressive setting, and Aleksander Iwancz's Cat with Pearls (lot 44), which shows a jewellery-embellished sphinx lounging about. If you are looking for realistic depictions of animals, it is worth looking at Anna Dzierżak's canvas 'Bee' (lot 45), where the artist portrayed the title insect with exceptional precision. A similar focus on detail and realism can be seen in Agnieszka Plewa's work Loneliness (lot 49.), depicting a polar bear against an expressive background. Enthusiasts of fairy-tale animalistic paintings will also find something to their liking, such as Anna Ewa Kosińska's portrait of a woman accompanied by flamingos 'Indian Summer' (lot 19.), Anna Poniatowska's butterfly surrounded by plants 'Actias Luna' (lot 41.) or Bożena Inger Kamińska's horses against an infantile landscape 'Untitled' (lot 43.). Finally: works of art with dogs. You will find the four-legged dog in the hands of the mysterious lady in Bożena Inger Kamińska's painting 'Lady with a Dog' (lot 42.), as well as in the black and white print by Małgorzata Fober 'In' (lot 102.).

Music, instruments, concerts—paintings that play

Collectors show great interest in artworks related to music. This subject, taken really from any angle, appeals to a wide range of music lovers and universally attracts anyone who has happened to fall in love with a song or piece of music. That is why we are also presenting paintings that emanate melody in the auction catalogue. You will find it in Joanna Ostaszewska's works Sunset Melody (lot 4) and Woodpecker Family (lot 5), which show forest concerts of classical music. Music can also be heard behind the scenes depicted by Gabriel Rodak in his painting 'Dance of Freedom' (lot 1). While Marcin Góralski's quadriptych 'The Beatles' from the series 'My Popular Lines' (lot 26) refers directly to one of the world's most popular bands. The paintings portraying the group's members in a modern way will certainly appeal to fans of The Beatles.

Botany—what grows in the painting?

Flowers in a vase wilt, potted plants wither, and the greenery on the canvas persists. For all those who find it difficult to keep real flora alive, or simply want to bring even more vegetation into their interior, we suggest bidding on botanical paintings. You will find this theme in Vladyslava Hrechkosii's work 'Parapet' (lot 51) depicting typical domestic plants in pots. Field and garden flowers can be found in Anastasia Kovaleva's collages 'Ornament' (lot 67) and 'Night Garden' (lot 68), as well as in Agnieszka Sterne's painting 'CzaryMary' (lot 55). In contrast, more imaginative and abstract plants were depicted by Anna Korszla in her two canvases 'Purple Sunflowers' (lot 108.) and 'Happy Tulips' (lot 109).

Sculpture and design - unique objects

The Talents auction is not only about paintings, but also sculptures and design objects. The catalogue features two exceptional ceramic busts by Roland Kościółek. The first one, entitled MiLady (lot 34), attracts the viewer with its deep cobalt colour, while the portraitist's hat and her specific body composition bring to mind the art deco style, so popular today. On the other hand, Kościółek's second work Last Unicorn (lot 35) is a sculpture of a unicorn. This mythical animal is usually associated with infantile colours and charming attributes. Here, however, the unicorn is depicted masculinely, in a muted, dark colour.  In the design category, we propose two vases by Marta Kovalska (lots 78 and 79) - the objects are characterised by the balls glued to the structure of the vases and their manufacturing technique, namely stoneware.

Photography and prints - art on paper

Finally, we recommend taking a look at the auction works made on paper. These are primarily photographs and prints, with each artist taking on a different subject matter and aesthetic. Dawid Galiński's two photographs 'Forgotten' (lot 36) and 'Shelter' (lot 37) transport us to an abandoned house as if from horror films, placing a lone female figure in its context. The uniqueness of coastal nature is captured by Elżbieta Waszczuk (lots 103 and 104), while the aura of a walk through a winter forest is conveyed by Jan Walczewski's print (lot 64). Photographers Franciszek Kruczkowski (lots 70 and 71) and Sebastian Szostek (lots 72 and 73) offer their black-and-white photographs in the catalogue, about which you can read more in the previous article "Photography beyond the lens".

The auction is already underway! The Artbidy Talent Auction will end on 28th of February 2024. Choose a unique work of art to enhance your interior or expand your art collection.
