On 28 November 2017, an extensive exhibition devoted to the work of Stanisław Wyspiański (1869-1907) opened at the National Museum in Kraków. In addition, another auction record was broken for a work by this artist at an auction in Desa Unicum.
The exhibition includes more than 900 works by the artist, ranging from paintings known to the mass public to book designs or sculptures. It looks like 2017 will be remembered as the year of Wyspiański, not only because of the extremely comprehensive and overview exhibition of his work, but also because of the recent auction record that was broken at the auction on 14.12.2017 in Desa Unicum. The work entitled. "Motherhood" from 1904 was sold to an anonymous collector for PLN 4366000. The artist's painting thus broke the record set in June this year by Jan Matejko's "The Killing of Wapowski", which achieved a price of 3.7 ml and was sold at the same auction house.
