Francisco Goya was a Spanish painter, a representative of Romanticism, one of the most outstanding artists of the late 18th and early 19th century. He began to study painting at the age of 14. In 1771 he created his first fresco in the Basilica del Pilar in Saragossa, and finished his career in 1827 with 'The Milkmaid of Bordeaux'. He was the court painter of Charles III of Bourbon, Charles IV of Bourbon, and Ferdinand VII of Bourbon. The style of his works evolved from Baroque and Rococo, through academism, to Pre-Romanticism and Pre-Impressionism. The largest collection of his works can be found in the Prado Museum in Madrid.
