Pieter Bruegel (the elder) was one of the greatest painters of the Netherlands, in his paintings you can find moralistic elements and timeless truths about man. In his compositions he placed hidden symbols, references to the present day. He created paintings on mythological and religious themes, illustrated the proverbs of his country. The master is credited with the authorship of 45 works, most of them were painted in oil on board technique. His most famous works include "Landscape with the Fall of Icarus", "Tower of Babel", "Stations of the Cross" and "Hunters in the Snow".
