Franciszek Andrzej Bobola Biberstein-Starowieyski was an eminent Polish artist renowned for his exceptionally versatile body of work. Born in 1930, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and Warsaw from 1949 to 1955. Over his career, Biberstein-Starowieyski worked in painting, drawing, graphic design, posters, as well as theatrical and television set design.

Biberstein-Starowieyski was endowed with a baroque imagination, which allowed him to masterfully blend sensual forms with intellectual depth in his works. His art was notably influenced by 17th-century masters, giving his creations a distinctive and recognizable character. As a leading representative of the Polish School of Poster Art, he created numerous iconic works that significantly impacted the development of Polish poster design.

His works were exhibited in numerous shows both in Poland and abroad, and his unique style made him one of the most respected artists of the 20th century. His art continues to inspire new generations of artists and captivate art lovers, remaining an important part of Poland’s artistic heritage. He passed away in 2009, leaving behind a rich artistic legacy.
